I just want people to know I did not do this journal, as I told the oh so lovely Kat, to garner sympathy, etc. This is NOT a poor little Lauren, so afflicted, type of journal. Anything but. I did it in an effort to bring to people's attention an issue near & dear to my heart.

The extremely talented Maggie, *Fraxa has been kind enough, generous enough to do an Epilepsy Awareness Stamp for me. What a sweetheart ! I'll be displaying it on all my journals from now on & also on my Shoutboard. Thank you Maggie, a thousand thank yous hon ! Okay, I guess this isn't really a "rant" per se, just something I want to say. With all the attention that I pay to Breast Cancer because of the way it's touched my family, there's also something else.

Epilepsy has also impacted my family & my life. I guess this is my week to come out of the closet, so to speak. Some of you may already know that I'm an Epileptic but I imagine most of you don't. The reason I was "sick" 2 days ago was because I'd had a seizure & it usually takes time to get over them. I'm just now, tonight, 11:32 P.M., Eastern Time in the U.S., feeling normal. I had my seizure, near as I can tell, 9:00 A.M. or thereabouts Tuesday morning. And I'm pretty sure I had a Grande Mal seizure as I lose time & I know I saw the end of Charmed on TV & then woke up around 12-12:30 on the couch.

The reason I'm even bringing this up is because I had seen a stamp, ( yes, God forbid, I STILL troll for stamps ) titled Epileptic Warning & on the stamp a statement was made about having fits. I commented on it to the artist & he & I have had a small convo about it & he has very generously changed his wording from "fit" to "seizure". And I really appreciated that.

The reason I'm even bringing it up is because in today's world, I would like to think that we all can be a little more sensitive than that. I realize that "fit" is the accepted terminology, but only outside of the medical community or the homes of epileptics. We have seizures, not fits. The only time I have a fit is when I get pissed off. Though I have had one of my sisters-in-law refer to me as having fits ... she made me want to have a fit ! And in my hearing too. To me, the tem "fit" is lowering, degrading & ignorant .... so please let's change our terminology kids !
